An American Chiropractic Technique: Now available in Azeitao, Portugal
America is the birthplace of Chiropractic, and Chiropractors in America have been expanding upon Chiropractic science and developing new techniques for over 100 years. One of the most influential and powerful of these techniques is “Cox Flexion Distraction”. The Cox technique is a unique Chiropractic technique designed to release pressure on vertebral discs and spinal nerves, and is particularly helpful for people with disc herniations and radiculopathy, as well as spinal stenosis and arthritis.
In the Cox technique, a patient’s spine is gently flexed while some spinal segments are held stationary, allowing the doctor to create more space in a particular part of the spine, and create a “negative pressure” in the disc, which has been shown to help disc bulges and herniations move back to the disc, reducing their size and creating relief for the patient.
Cox technique is also very well researched, a list of studies is available here:

If you have or suspect a disc herniation in your back, consult a Chiropractor for the best diagnosis and non-invasive treatment available. In Portugal, contact the APQ, Associação Portuguesa dos Quiropráticos for a list of properly trained doctors of Chiropractic.
